ELECTRICAL ENERGY

Try to think of how many times you used electricity today. How many electrical appliances did you use? These are things that use electricity, either from a plug in the wall, or from a battery.

SocketEvery time you switch on a light you use electricity. Electricity makes things work.

When we switch something on, the energy from the electricity is changed into:

Heat for electric fires, cookers, toasters, irons, electric blankets, hair dryers.

Light for your lights, torches, television

Sound for your radio and television.

Movement in food mixers, washing machines, fans.

These are just some examples of how electrical energy is changed into different forms of energy in our homes. Can you think of some more?
